A little help before you choose

A little preparation. A piece that fits.

Practical starting points for your measurements, wood selection and finish. Send us your dimensions and photos whenever you need help confirming the details.

Measuring for a sliding door

Measure the finished opening in several places and record its width and height. Our dropdown dimensions are the overall door-leaf dimensions, not the opening dimensions.

  1. Note whether you need one door or a pair, and which way it should slide.
  2. Measure the unobstructed wall space beside the opening, including trim, switches and outlets.
  3. Record the space above the opening for the rail. Identify your wall material and the planned mounting support.
  4. Confirm the required overlap, floor clearance and rail length with the instructions for your chosen hardware before choosing the door size.
  5. Send an overall photo, a close-up of the trim, your measurements and the hardware model if you have one. We can review the proposed door dimensions together.

Available widths: 24, 28, 30, 32, 34 or 36 inches. Heights: 78, 80, 82, 84 or 88 inches. Thicknesses: 1-3/8, 1-1/2 or 1-3/4 inches. Rail, rollers, handles and installation are quoted separately.

Choosing your stair treads

Start with the character you want: pronounced grain in red oak or ash, softer light tones in birch or sugar maple, distinctive streaks in ambrosia maple, warm cherry, neutral white oak or rich black walnut. Natural colour and grain vary from board to board.

Choose a length of 36, 40, 42, 46, 48 or 54 inches. Standard depth is 11 inches, with thickness choices from 1-1/2 to 3 inches. Confirm the finished measurements and thickness with your installer before ordering.

  • Raw: glued and planed, for your own preparation.
  • Sanded: sanded to 120 grit, ready for your finish.
  • Matte oil: sanded and oiled.
  • Colour match and varnish: custom matching with water-based acrylic varnish.

Select the correct staircase type: open central stringer, open side stringers or closed with risers. Tell us which surfaces will remain visible. Prices are per tread; stringers, risers and installation are excluded.

Choosing a stain on pine

The doors and Dream Beam bed offer the 35 Minwax Wood Finish oil-based stain colours shown in their palettes. Change the model or camera view and select a stain to explore the look.

A digital preview is an illustration. Pine grain, knots, preparation and room lighting affect the finished colour. For a close match to flooring or furniture, send a clear photo in natural light and discuss a physical sample with the workshop before production.

  • Doors: staining adds 30% to the selected sanded door price.
  • Dream Beam: the selected frame stain and two coats of water-based varnish are included.
  • Dream Beam mattress-support planks: left natural and unstained. The colour preview applies to the frame and headboard.

For other products, use the finish choices on that product’s page. The door palette does not automatically apply to every collection.
