Choosing a Custom Solid Pine Fireplace Mantel

A solid pine fireplace mantel brings warmth and a focal point to a room. Start with your fireplace, the surrounding wall and the character you want the wood to have. Aries Den handcrafts its mantels in Sainte-Sophie, Québec, with your space as the starting point.

Choose the proportions

Length is the horizontal measurement; height is the visible front face; depth is the projection from the wall. Record each separately and include units. Compare your proposed mantel with the fireplace opening and surround. A cardboard mock-up can help you judge its presence before confirming finished dimensions.

Decide on the wood’s character

Our custom pine mantel offers four looks: hand-hewn, weathered with wooden plugs, smooth resawn pine, and weathered. A hand-hewn surface has irregular worked texture; the smooth option gives a quieter, contemporary face.

Grain and knots give every piece individual character. Share photographs of your flooring, furniture and an inspiration piece. These explain your direction but cannot promise identical grain or colour. Screen stain previews are approximate; discuss a sample when a close colour match matters.

Discuss the mounting

Consider whether you prefer a floating appearance or visible pine corbels. The floating mounting kit is optional and corbels are a separate product. Appearance alone does not establish supporting capacity.

A qualified installer must assess the mantel’s weight, wall construction and suitable attachment. Before finalizing size and position, have combustible clearances checked against your fireplace manufacturer’s instructions. Visual proportions must still meet those requirements.
