The wood guide · Handcrafted in Québec
Colour and grain set the tone for a staircase. Compare the eight woods in our tread range, then choose the preparation, finish and dimensions that suit your project. Our stair treads are made to order in Sainte-Sophie, Québec.
Start with the wood’s character
For light tones and quieter grain, begin with birch or sugar maple. For more expressive grain, compare ash, red oak and ambrosia maple. Black walnut offers deeper brown tones, while white oak and cherry provide other warm colour directions.

Matching an existing floor?
Send a photograph taken in natural light and describe the wood, finish and visible surfaces. A screen preview cannot guarantee an identical colour; a physical sample helps establish the direction.
